Description
This paper follows on from our previous discussion of hip arthritides, and deals with the surgical management options and their complications. Total Hip Replacement (THR) has largely replaced other surgical options, although some still have a limited role. There is debate about the best form of prosthesis and fixation of THR, and this is discussed. Surgery for hip arthritis carries the risk of complications, and prevention and management of the more common is also discussed.
