Description
There remains considerable debate about the ideal management of primary traumatic anterior shoulder dislocation, especially in young adults. After gentle reduction, there is no evidence that any period of immobilisation has any effect on the clinical outcome. As the benefits increase and risks decrease for minimally invasive surgical reconstruction, it is likely that primary stabilisation will be recommended for a wider group of patients than at present.
