Description
A 33 year old male sustained bilateral patellar tendon rupture secondary to minimal trauma. He had a previous history of Osgood-Schlatter disease as a child. Bilateral rupture of the patellar tendon is very rare, usually seen in patients with chronic disease. Rupture through the midsubstance of the tendon has not previously been reported in this condition, leading to the hyothesis that Osgood- Schlatter disease causes degenerate change in the patellar tendon, with an increased risk of rupture.
