Description
The recent consultative government white paper “A first class service – quality in the NHS” has put quality issues back on the agenda of the NHS debate. Formulating the principles of Clinical Governance was well underway before the Bristol case and the apparent failure of quality of the screening services at St Georges, Tooting, Kent and in Exeter. But these events all contributed to making the Government determined to enforce the central issues of the paper, which are evidence based medicine and comparative clinical audit.
