Description
The optics and technique of indirect ophthalmoscopy using both slit lamp and head mounted viewing systems are described. Details are given of the different types of both non-contacting and contacting condensing lenses along with their theoretical magnifications and viewing angles. Solutions to common problems associated with indirect observation of the retinal are given along with the advantages of indirect ophthalmoscopy when compared to direct retinal viewing methods.
