Description
When people go about their daily routine they need and expect adequate and suitable illumination within the spaces and areas which they occupy and use. This requirement centres on modern expectations relating to safety, pleasantness, stimulation and comfort and designers of the total environment have to come to recognise and satisfy the wider demands of modern society. Equally when people at work are using their visual senses to perform tasks, often exacting, the lighting in the workplace and particularly on and around the task itself must be adequate and correct. Illuminance level requirements take into account many requirements not the least of which is the projected size of the visual task and national and international codes form the basis of good practice in lighting design.
