Description

Aims; To report a case of gastric signet ring cell carcinoma presented as a lid metastasis with literature search.
Materials and methods; A 52 year old male presented with right lower eye lid swelling. The biopsy showed signet ring cell carcinoma. Further investigations revealed a gastric primary signet ring cell carcinoma.
Results; Eye lids are rather uncommon sites for metastasis. Breast, skin, gastrointestinal and genitourinary tumours are common primaries. Misdiagnosis is possible. Previously two cases have been reported with eye lid metastasis from a gastric signet ring cell cancer.
Conclusions; Eye lid metastasis from a gastric signet ring cell cancer is very rare. Our case is the third case reported so far in the medical literature
