Description

A 36-year-old woman was admitted with a cellulitis and pyrexia whilst receiving chemotherapy for relapsed Hodgkin’s disease. Pasteurella multocida was isolated from blood cultures. This organism is present in the oral bacterial flora of domestic cats and dogs and these were undoubtedly the source of her infection. This is the first reported case of P. multocida bacteraemia occurring in a patient receiving chemotherapy for Hodgkin’s disease.
