Description
A primary extranodal presentation of non-Hodgkins lymphoma (NHL) accounts for up to 40% of all NHL in Europe and North America. The vast majority are B cell malignancies (diffuse large B cell and extranodal marginal zone B cell of MALT type in most cases). Most of these lymphomas are either stage IEA or IIEA and bone marrow involvement occurs in less than 5% of patients. Patients with Stage IEA marginal zone NHL have normal life expectancy. For these reasons radiotherapy still plays an important role either as sole treatment or after initial chemotherapy in NHL occurring in
Waldeyers ring, orbit, sinonasal region, thyroid gland, salivary gland, skin, CNS, breast and bone.
