Description

Stage I seminoma is the commonest tumour in young adult males and is increasing in incidence. Therapeutic options include adjuvant radiotherapy, chemotherapy and active surveillance. Trials have focussed on reducing toxicity of treatments whilst maintaining the excellent prognosis for these patients. Early data suggests equivalence in survival for the different management options, although mature data from randomised comparison trials is awaited. Improvements in imaging and understanding of tumour cell biology may help to individualise treatment and provide new therapies.
