Description

Welcome to what is likely to be the final issue of CPD Rheumatology. Over the last two years the journal has contained excellent reviews on a wide range of rheumatological conditions, and I have enjoyed being part of its production. I hope you have found it a useful and informative part of your regular reading. Unfortunately, reading the journal and completion of the MCQs still only counts towards personal credit through the Royal College of Physicians CME scheme, and this has been a major factor in the decision to halt publication. In this issue, Ariane Herrick has written a very informative summaryon the management of Raynaud’s and gives some insight into future research and therapies. Lee-Suan Teh presents an overview of the very diverse neuropsychiatric aspects of SLE, its aetiopathogenesis and treatment. A very comprehensive review of the management of knee OA by Kelsey Jordan includes the rationale behind Glucosamine and Chondroitin treatment. Simon Jones completes his series of radiology tutorials in rheumatology by discussing the various merits of CT and MRI, and finally Julie Hides discusses the scientific basis for core stability exercises in patients with low back pain. We have all heard of red and yellow flags in the assessment of patients with low back pain, but Gatchel et al discuss blue and black f lags also. I hope you enjoy this issue of CPD Rheumatology and look forward to seeing you at the BSR Annual General Meeting in Manchester in April.
