Blepharitis refers to a group of disorders which produces chronic inflammation of the lid margin and is frequently associated with secondary changes in the conjunctiva and cornea. It is a very common disorder which, when considered with conjunctivitis, accounts for up to 71% of inflammatory cases presenting to casualty departments in the UK.1 Despite its high incidence, the exact aetiology behind blepharitis remains unclear.
