Description
A 64 year old female presented to the Emergency department with acute left hip pain following a fall at home. On examination the left leg was shortened and internally rotated. She had a past medical history of neurofibromatosis type 1 with no known related problems. On systems review, the only features of note were longstanding constipation, which she controlled with variable success with over the counter medications. She lived alone and was independently active. Figure 1 is a plain radiograph of her hip at presentation, and Figure 2 a subsequent MRI scan.
