Description
Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia are leading causes of cognitive impairment in the elderly population. A number of demographic, atherosclerotic, and genetic risk factors for the development of Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia have been identified. This review focuses on the atherosclerotic risk factors and discusses their impact on the aetiopathogenesis of these disabling conditions.
