Description
Academic staffs skills, attitudes and views
on public health in a school of nursing are presented and
analysed. Results indicated that public health skills were
concentrated within a small group of individuals within the
Institute. A process of change and adaptation was identified
as necessary if the challenge of the new public health agenda
at national, international and trust levels was to be met.
Actions included ensuring staff development programmes and
recruitment frameworks to develop both public health practitioner
and specialist skills. The inclusion of public health in all
programmes and modules will now be an important part of promoting
public health issues among our student body.
