Description

In October 1997, a 47-year-old woman was admitted having had two episodes of haematemesis and several episodes of melaena. She gave no history of gastrointestinal symptoms. She had not taken any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or any other ulcerogenic medication. Nine years earlier she had a small haematemesis during pregnancy, which was not itself investigated at that time.
