Description
After a break of a few issues there are finally two articles commissioned by the Trainees in Gastroenterology (TiG) in the journal. Both deal with common problems. The article by Dr. Alison Brind helped me a great deal in understanding the genetic factors underlying alcoholic liver disease. The second is written by myself on nutritional aspects in the treatment of chronic liver disease. 1 learnt a lot writing this review and hope that other trainees will find it helpful. The Journal is always happy to consider review articles based on your research subject, or a good case report particularly when there is a strong educational message. Don’t be shy, these are your pages! Currently the journal is aiming to get Medline listing to acknowledge its importance and quality; this should make it even more attractive for you to write for the journal.
The Committee of Trainees in Gastroenterology had an interesting past year which was reported on at our annual general meeting in Glasgow in March. Since we are now on the web you can also read about our work at www.tig.org.uk. On that website you will find summaries of the committees in which we represent you, information on the manpower situation and a number of useful links to other organisations. The main event of last year was probably the fact that we secured sponsorship until the end of 2002. A special thanks to John Green the present chairman of TiG for his efforts! The sponsorship will mean that we will be able to organise several workshops during that time. Please let us know what subjects and speakers you want.
