Description
We live in a world where advances in medical science and technology raise ethical dilemmas. In approaching moral issues, the general public and doctors draw on a number of different bases for morality. In facing difficult decisions, doctors need a means of identifying and understanding different moral frameworks. Five key approaches to morality, including relativism, reductionism, principles, consequentialism and virtue theory, are critically discussed. The aim is to help doctors clarify their own position and that of patients, families and other professionals in making ethical decisions.
