Description

Tracheobronchial Non Hodgkins Lymphoma (NHL) is rare and is most commonly a manifestation of disseminated or resistant disease.?1 These patients present with symptoms of airway obstruction such as dyspnoca, cough or wheeze. Whilst combined modality chemotherapy and radiotherapy is the mainstay of treatment in NHL, surgery is reserved as a salvage therapy for resistant disease or tracheomalacia.1 Laser bronchoscopy is one modality that can be used to treat the marginal airway in obstructive malignant disease of the tracheobronchial tree.2 We present an unusual case of an obstructive tracheobronchial NHL palliated by Holmium: yttrium-aluminium-garnet (Ho:YAG) laser debridement. This is the first recorded case of the use of the Ho: YAG laser in the palliation of malignant airway obstruction.
