Description
Quality has been defined as doing the right things, for the right people at the right time and doing them right first time.1 Clinical audit is a quality improvement tool for healthcare organisations and as such plays a key role in the implementation of clinical governance. This discussion defines what clinical audit is and provides an overview of the processes and principles involved. Consideration is given to developing audit programmes or strategies within optometry and example audits are explored.
