Description
Shoulder pain is a common clinical problem in the Rheumatology Clinic. The diagnosis and treatment are paramount in order to achieve a successful outcome.
Unfortunately this can be difficult without appropriate radiological investigations. There is a paucity of evidence on the various management protocols that are often followed in Rheumatology clinic including intra-articular injections and physiotherapy. Although the diagnosis of certain shoulder disorders are greatly aided by the advent of better scanning techniques such as MRI, greater information can be obtained by the use of dynamic scans such as Ultrasound which can also be used to make local injections in the joint.
This chapter attempts to focus on the current approach to this common clinical problem with emphasis on certain easy clinical tests which can be used, in the clinic along with a general overview of the management.
