Description
We present a unique case of recurrent intractable
epistaxis caused by a vascular malformation of the inferior
turbinate, originating from the facial artery. Multiple
attempts at selective vessel ligations failed to control this
bleeding, and a subsequent angiogram diagnosed the vascular
anomaly. The patient thereafter underwent external carotid
artery ligation, and this has successfully aborted the
epistaxis. We discuss the use of angiography and the
therapeutic options available to treat intractable epistaxis.
