Description
Adhesive capsulitis is a condition of unknown aetiology characterised by shoulder pain associated with progressive limitation of range of movement.
The diagnosis is mainly clinical although some imaging techniques such as arthrography and MRI may be necessary.
The main treatment modalities consist of physiotherapy, intra-articular corticosteroids and manipulation. Unfortunately some patients do not respond to conventional treatment and require arthroscopic or open surgical release.
