Description
An 85-year-old male presented with progressive left hip pain of six weeks duration. There was no history of trauma. His only past medical history was of mild asthma. The left hip was extremely tender to palpation and any movement resulted in excruciating pain. The joint was neither hot nor swollen. ESR was elevated at 50mm/hr. Other laboratory tests were normal including PSA.
Radiological examinations included a pelvic radiograph, a bone scintogram and a CT of the hip.
