Description
Draffin rods are routinely used to support the mouth gag
during tonsillectomy. Displacement of the mouth gag may
contribute to peri-operative complications such as
haemorrhage and trauma to the oral cavity and oropharynx.
We describe a reliable technique of rod stabilization using a
plastic car mat, thereby reducing the tendency of the rods to
slip laterally.
