Description
A 45 year old woman was admitted with a
three day history of palpitations, febrile illness
and a cough productive of green sputum. Her
medical history included a diagnosis of Wolff-
Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW) that had been
diagnosed over 30 years previously but she had
never had a full cardiological assessment. She had
experienced short episodes (typically less than a
few minutes) of palpitations every three to four
months since childhood. She rarely drank alcohol,
was a non-smoker and took no regular medications.
