Description
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a debilitating neurological
condition carrying substantial morbidity. MS is associated
with inflammatary damage to myelinated nerves within the central
nervous system. Several distinct forms of MS are now recognised,
which should lead to improved design of drug trials. Accurate
diagnosis requires input from a variety of medical specialities,
with analysis of cerebrospinal fluid for intrathecal synthesis
of oligoclonal IgG being the laboratory test of choice.
