Description
The Nottingham Skull Base Group organised a major international symposium on neuromonitoring in February of this year. The focus of contemporary surgery is the preservation of function. Patients today assume they will survive their operation and it is the quality of their survival that has become their major concern. Central to the preservation of function in otolaryngological surgery is the ability to identify and protect the cranial nerves which are encountered at surgery.
