Description

The number of patients that can be scanned per day on
a conventional CT scanner is limited by long overall
acquisition times. With a multislice CT scanner,
examination times are greatly reduced and are therefore no
longer the limiting factor. A desirable consequence of this is
to be able to carry out more examinations and shorten the
waiting list. In order to maximise throughput, fundamental
changes to systems of work must be introduced to increase
efficiency whilst maintaining quality and patient care. This
article discusses changes we have implemented at the Royal
Bournemouth Hospital to achieve this goal.
