Description
Scanner technology has developed rapidly over a
period of only a few years since the introduction of
four slice scanning in 1998. Since then all the major
CT manufacturers have produced four slice, dual
slice and sixteen slice systems, and some with other
slice numbers in between.
As almost all non-helical scanners have now
been replaced in the UK, and over 50% of currently
operating scanners are multi-slice, it is essential to
be acquainted with the technical aspects of this new
and rapidly adopted technology.
