Description
Abnormalities in the Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) may sometimes occur in patients with impaired hearing. This could be due to a disorder in the central auditory pathways. We present two cases of adults with impaired hearing in whom the ABR was abnormal. MRI brain scans which were carried out subsequently demonstrated changes of marked cerebral atrophy in each case. This association has hitherto not been reported. The significance of these findings is discussed.
