Description
A case of a fibrolipoma of the supraglottis presenting
with acute stridor in an elderly gentleman is presented. The
lump was successfully removed immediately in theatre under
direct laryngoscopy. Endoscopic removal of these lesions
although time consuming is still possible, thereby avoiding
an external approach. The aim of this article is to stress the
fact that such cases need to be intubated on the theatre table
with a tracheostomy kit on standby. It is also important to
bear in mind that these patients should not be paralysed
during the anaesthetic.
