Description
Imaging modalities are presently essential in fetal
medicine. Fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is
routinely performed in selected situations following
Ultrasound (US). The indications are numerous and relate
to the central nervous system, the spine, the chest and the
abdomen. The aim of the following document is to specify
the context in which MRI is a useful complementary tool to
US, and how it may improve and refine the diagnosis of an
anomaly and therefore help in counselling the parents and
managing the newborn. The technique we use and the role
of MRI are described in the most frequently encountered
clinical situations in daily practice in order to help the
radiologists in the diagnosis and interpretation of fetal
anomalies.
