Facial pain: diagnosis and management

Author(s): N D Bateman & T J Woolford

Description

This paper presents a practical systematic approach to

the management of facial pain based on the use of a diagnostic

checklist. The presentation and clinical features of the common

diagnoses are discussed along with appropriate management

strategies. In the authors opinion facial pain is commonly

misdiagnosed as sinusitis. The importance of accurate history

taking and endoscopic examination of the nose to enable correct

diagnosis is emphasised.
