Description

Larrieu et al Neurology 2002; 59: 1594-1599
This is a five year study of 1200 subjects from a South Western French population. They found a 2.8% prevalence of mild cognitive impairment and an incidence of 1% per year. 8% of these patients progressed to AD, but 50% reverted to normal. The authors speculate that the psychometric tests may be at fault. But this casts doubts on how stable a condition MCI is, and introduces caution about how we describe this state to patients in the clinic.
