Description
The management of patients with swallowing problems requires a thorough knowledge of the mechanisms of normal anatomy and patho-physiology of swallowing, as well as an awareness of the available diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. Some patients may have very complex problems and require all the skills of an extended multidisciplinary team. Since dysphagia is a symptom and not a disease, the efficiency of medical therapy depends on an accurate diagnosis.
