We report 2 patients with Crohns disease in whom haematinic deficiency disproportionate to the extent of their Crohns disease alerted us to the presence of previously undiagnosed coeliac disease. We recommend maintaining a low threshold for suspecting such coexistent disease. Screening for endomysial antibodies may be a useful test in this context.
