Description
A 30 year old lady was referred to the Immunology clinic from a District General Hospital complaining of severe swelling of the lower lip.The onset was sudden 8 weeks before referral, with about 30 subsequent attacks occurring both at work and elsewhere. The attacks were consistent with angioedema and occasionally affected the tongue and face, but with no respiratory involvement, difficulty in swallowing or documented fall in blood pressure. She did feel tremulous and light headed during attacks but never lost consciousness. The swellings developed over 15-30 minutes and lasted up to 24 hours.
