Description

Cytokines are important players in the regulation of the immune system. Polymorphisms within the genes encoding cytokines or their receptors are providing a good tool to study the genetics of immune regulated diseases, and in predicting disease susceptibility and severity. Genotyping is easy. In the future, a knowledge of the cytokine gene profile of patients will be available to clinicians to help with diagnosis, prognosis and to guide therapy.
