Description
Tachyarrhythmias are common in old age. Altered haemodynamics account for most of the symptoms and adverse consequences. The commonest supraventricular tachycardia in old age is fast atrial fibrillation; this requires careful assessment and treatment. The most important ventricular tachyarrhythmia, other than ventricular fibrillation is ventricular tachycardia, which requires urgent diagnosis and treatment, and confers an adverse prognosis.
