Description

Predominant hematopoietic origin of cellfree DNA in plasma and serum after sexmismatched bone marrow transplantation (Clin Chem 2002; 48: 421-27.)

Recent studies have indicated that DNA, derived from tumours, foetus and organ transplants, can be detected in plasma. A substantial amount of DNA is also present in plasma from apparently healthy subjects but the origin of the genetic material in these individuals has not been established.
