Description

A 37 year old lady, first presented at the age of 15 with suspected acute appendicitis, was incidentally found to have hypokalaemia. She had a history of irritable bowel syndrome but denied the use of any medications. There was no significant family history. Physical examination was unremarkable. She was not dehydrated. Her blood pressure was 125/70 mmHg, both in the sitting and
supine positions. Her renal function, ECG and ultrasound examination of the kidneys were all normal. She was treated with potassium supplements.
