Description

As a European country, Austria faces problems similar
to those in the Western world. Growth in the number of
older persons, coupled with low birth rates as well as high
immigration are causes for concern with regards to the burden
of disease. To save resources and improve quality, Austrian
ministries set forth a re-structuring of the health system.
Public Health and Health Promotion are still at the forefront
but there has been a change in the way of thinking with
regards to these topics. This paper will describe how the
Austrian Health System works, current changes and
activities in Public Health and Health Promotion.
