Description
A disturbed night’s sleep is a common problem for patients with Parkinson’s Disease (PD). The direct effect of PD, side effects of PD medications and other medical complaints can all contribute to nighttime problems. In addition, nighttime problems may be a product of daytime sleep disturbances; in particular, excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS). It is important that all patients are regularly asked about the quality of their nights sleep and the presence of EDS. Treatment strategies need to be tailored to best meet the individual needs of each patient and be reviewed regularly.
