Description
Right ventricular failure is common in the elderly, but is often difficult to diagnose and particularly difficult to treat. In this review we discuss the anatomy and pathophysiology of the right ventricle and associated dysfunction. We explore the causes of this important disease process, together with the diagnostic criteria, from symptoms and clinical signs to the available investigations. The underlying therapeutic principles are outlined, as well as some more novel and specific therapeutic strategies.
