Description
The non-epithelial pathology of the nose and paranasal sinuses comprises inflammatory infective, inflammatory non-infective and neoplastic lesions. Allergic fungal sinusitis has become one of the most frequent of the infective lesions. As well as the common nasal polyps, there are several types of non-infective inflammatory lesions in this area, some presenting difficulties in diagnosis. Neoplasms of vascular, fibrous, muscular, cartilaginous and/or bony, and lymphoid origins also occur. Plasmacytomas and Rosai-Dorfmann disease have a special tendency to arise in this area.
