The barium enema has long been the radiological method
of choice for evaluating the colon. However, significant developments
in a wide variety of imaging modalities have resulted in several
alternative means of assessing patients with known or suspected
colonic disease. This article describes these alternative
techniques, with particular emphasis on CT and Virtual Colonoscopy
