Description

The acceptance of Continuing Professional Development by the dental profession has exceeded all expectations. The range and volume of learning materials is growing almost daily, particularly those like CPD Dentistry that have a ‘verifiable’ label to satisfy the requirements of the General Dental Council. It is, of course, essential that all practitioners have a CPD portfolio to retain certificates for submission when required, and CPD Dentistry was delighted to hear from the GDC that the MCQ certificates are now being submitted, and accepted, as evidence of verifiable activity.

The demand has been so great, in fact, that changes to the Journal are either planned or have already had to be implemented. The MCQ questions and marking are now only available on-line, the subscription for which is free with the hard copy. This has the advantages of easy accessibility at all times, instant marking and awarding of credits, and a hard copy certificate can be downloaded on completion of the MCQ activity. Access is, of course, only available to subscribers.

We are also delighted to begin to introduce other articles related to dental practice, in addition to the formal educational and verifiable papers. Over the next few issues papers will begin to appear related to medico-legal matters, practice management, vocational training, PCD development and education, and personal opinion papers to promote discussion. I am sure you will agree that these can only enhance our Journal and your enjoyment of this form of CPD.
