Will a GDP pay 85 for a book which sounds as though it is full of materials science? Possibly not, but this book is still a must for those who believe they are working at the cutting edge with the most modern and exciting materials in dentistry.
I quote from the preface:
“In the past, young dentists could work for years with the knowledge they acquired in dental school. This is no longer the case, given how adhesives have changed, and continue to change the way many dental techniques are performed. Dentists now need to constantly re-evaluate their knowledge in light of the rapidly growing number of adhesive materials developed by dental manufacturers as well as the myriad new treatment methods they engender.”
Never a truer word was written regarding sticky dentistry. This book is staggeringly good with chapters written by a selection of world-renowned experts in their fields.
Much of the material was presented at a symposium held in Paris on May 7 and 8 in 1999. The chapters are concise, relevant and engaging to read. The illustrations are of high quality with numerous clinical slides reproduced in colour.
I particularly enjoyed the chapter on the Strength of Fragment Bonded Teeth. Documented repair of post crowned teeth with vertical root fracture gives optimism to an age old problem. Great Book!!
