Welcome back to the CPD Bulletin in Cellular Pathology in this issue devoted to gynaecological pathology.

The practice of gynaecological pathology has seen a number of changes in recent times, many of which are reflected in the articles in this issue. The clinical management of gynaecological cancers has developed considerably as a result of the implementation of developments in cancer networks in the UK. Within pathology this has been an area where specialisation has been early to develop.

In this issue we have articles that address a number of the diagnostic problems and areas of developing knowledge in this organ system. In particular the tumours of the endometrium and of the ovarian stroma are discussed in detail. The developments associated with the latest WHO classification are also discussed.

Gynaecological pathology is not just restricted to cancer. Many of the specimens that we have to examine relate to nonneoplastic conditions, especially in the vulva, vagina, cervix and endometrium. These processes are discussed in other articles.

The CPD Bulletin has lain dormant for a while, but is now ready to leap back into life. This issue concludes a first cycle around the various organ systems of the human body.
